Program Notes

Dancing particles, a new composition, illuminates the contrast between the dynamic relationships of the universe's proportional differences. From the atom to full galaxies, this concept sprouted from the sight of dust particles radiating in the sunlight, unveiling its minuscule beauty. This vision spurred thoughts of the universe's diverse scales and layers.

The work delves into the themes of observing beauty in small details and extrapolating to the brevity of humanity. It raises the question of what God thinks of us and our creations. This composition embodies these concepts through two distinct characters: a lively, energetic, dance-like motive that pulses throughout and a weighted theme with a hefty tone, bringing an air of questioning and omnipotence. The introduction highlights these two characters back to back, while the middle of the work has a transitional progression, giving a gradual sensation of zooming out. The resolution of the final zoom-out remains elusive, but the lively return to the dance-like motive at the end provides solace. Perhaps it's best not to learn the full answers to these overwhelming questions but to focus on the life we have before us.
