Prayer for the Isolated | Trumpet Ensemble
During the spread of Covid-19 in the Spring of 2020, I decided create a melody that conveyed a sense of comfort for those dealing sickness and isolation, as well as express my own personal fears during this time. The melody takes inspiration from romantic composers such as, Rachmaninov, Wagner, and Dvorak. While the melody sounded pleasant by itself, I felt it needed to be countered by other voices as it sounded hollow. So everyday for a week, I wrote a new voice to counter the melody, until it was a swarm of trumpets covering the melody. During these times, I felt that everyone was begging for unification. This piece represents that longing to unify and connect with one another. These days seem troubling and restricted, but they will not last. Eventually, we will be united again.
